The Western Australian Soccer Football Association (WASFA) was football's peak organising body in Western Australia from 1896 (the first year of organised soccer in WA) to 1959. The Soccer Federation of Western Australia (SFWA) took over this role in 1960 when the top eight WA clubs broke away from the WASFA to form their new semi-professional league under the new SFWA banner. The WASFA continued their leagues in direct competition with the SFWA, however this only continued till 1962 with the demise of their association.
The Charity Cup was the premier 'knock-out' cup competition in Western Australia up until 1960 when the SFWA was formed.
